Tim acquired the Boulevard Sentinel in 2015 from Tom Topping, the paper’s founding editor and publisher. Both Tim and Tom were born and raised in Northeast Los Angeles. Their interest in local coverage is rooted in their love of the area where they grew up. Tim brought a background in sales to the paper, as well as a connection to the local business scene that goes way back: The Tritch family has operated Tritch Hardware on Colorado Blvd. in Eagle Rock since 1942, becoming a pillar of the community in the process and giving Tim, as the publisher of the Boulevard Sentinel, a foundation of local support.
SENIOR ACCOUNT MANAGER
Bill joined the Boulevard Sentinel in 2016 to add new advertisers to the paper’s roster of longtime advertisers. Bill’s sales background in real estate sales has been good training for NELA, where much of the local economy currently revolves around housing and commerical rentals. Bill has also brought in local hospitals and local banks as advertisers, as well as many of the area’s nonprofit organizations and new restaurants. Bill, a former captain in the U.S. Air Force, graduated from Colby College in Maine and has an M.B.A. from Stanford University.
Teresa (Bill’s wife and Tim’s sister) is a career journalist who became editor of the Boulevard Sentinel in 2017. She was a member of the Editorial Board of the New York Times from 2004 to 2017, where she was part of the team that won the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service in 2017. Before joining the New York Times, she was a senior editor and Washington, D.C. bureau chief for Money magazine. Teresa’s aim is to provide the best possible coverage of NELA in this era when local reporting is under pressure. Teresa graduated from UCLA and holds a Master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.
