EASTER SUNRISE SERVICE AT THE PARK

The Churches Assisting Neighbors (CAN) will be holding an Easter Sunrise Service at the Eagle Rock Recreation Center park on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012 at 7:00 a.m. Everyone is invited to this outdoor service, which will be held by the stage area behind the gym. The Eagle Rock Recreation Center is located at 1100 Eagle Vista Drive, Los Angeles, California.

Last year, a Centennial Easter Sunrise Service was held at the park under the Rock, where similar services were held historically each spring, drawing thousands of worshippers who gathered around the Eagle Rock.

A number of local churches that form CAN are coming together to host a time of worship and devotion. Father Peter Rogers, OP, of St. Dominic Catholic Church will lead the sermon along with several other pastors, and a combined worship team led by Kevin Kohut of Eagle Rock Covenant Church will lend their talents and voices to worship the Risen Christ. Recording artist, Carolee Mayne of Christian Assembly Church, and her band will share special music.

The worship service will be followed with breakfast and a time of games and an egg hunt.

Participating churches and organizations include Christian Assembly, Church of the Nazarene, Eagle Rock Covenant Church, Hope Fellowship, NELA Church of the City Coalition, New Hope Christian Fellowship, St. Dominic Catholic Church, Councilmember Huizar’s office, and others.

CAN is a network of Christian churches that mobilizes individuals in congregations to meet the needs of disenfranchised people in the Eagle Rock area. The CAN network exists to facilitate fellowship, communication, and the sharing of resources and referrals between pastors, lay leaders and community members.
