The homeless population of Northeast Los Angeles will be counted on Thursday, January 23.
Sponsored by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, the count is conducted by volunteers whose efforts provide the county with data that is used to make public policy on homelessness.
Training, equipment and materials are provided to street counters, who work in groups of two to four people canvassing an assigned area and counting all the homeless people they see.
Volunteers are also needed to work in the office before and during the night of the count.
