Phase I of the Colorado Blvd. Improvement Project is underway.
Civic leaders attended a ground-breaking ceremony this morning at Eagle Rock City Hall for the $12 million “Take Back the [Colorado] Blvd. project – to improve the pedestrian, bicyclist and driver safety and experience.

At the same time, an Streets LA (formerly LA Street Services) crew broke ground at the Linda Vista intersection installing curb access ramps and sidewalks. There are a lot more of those and other improvement scheduled for Colorado Blvd. over the next two years. All the work is planned to be done “in house” by Streets LA crews.
Councilmember Huizar, today’s host, and the heads of LA Public Works, Streets LA, LADOT, the ERNC and TERA all spoke enthusiastically about the project.

Kudos went to Bob Gotham, at right, not present today, for his foresight and initiative in getting and keeping the Colorado Blvd improvement project rolling. We spoke with Bob who assured us that the project “wouldn’t have happened without all the people who worked hard to make it happen.”
